Chloe & Patrick
Bordeaux, France
A 13th-century castle upon a formation of rock watches over the rolling countryside of Dordogne, France. The historic grounds have seen centuries of humanity through every lens: family, war, surrender, strife, joy, friendship, peace, and above all: love. Chloe and Patrick envisioned a wedding that would transport guests to another time. The storied stone walls and trenching moat whispered tales of enchantment and romance from future and past, reaching across the earth to the Australian lovers. Even having never seen it in the flesh, the pair were enamoured by Château de Montastruc in Bordeaux. The timeless setting extended into the design of neutrals, creams, and chic black bridesmaid dresses. The bride ascended a baby’s breath-lined aisle in a romantic and fluttering gown before the courtyard dinner commenced at dusk. “It was the food and wine that really set the scene,” Chloe recalls of her Michelin-starred chef catering. “And then, after all the formalities were done, we danced in the candlelit dungeon to the tunes of Talking Heads with our nearest and dearest.”
