What is the (Re)Cycle program at The Fall?

(Re)Cycle is a resale program where brides can bring their dresses to us and we will sell it on to a new bride on behalf of them.

How does it work? We automatically accept back any styles bought from The Fall; any other styles/designers are on a case-by-case basis and brides can submit them online. We evaluate the condition of each piece from New to Excellent or Good (we don't accept anything below Good) and agree a resale price with the seller. Then, when it sells we take a commission as a fee for the service. The seller gets to make back some money on their outfit and the new buyer gets a great piece at a discounted price.

Do you find couples are increasingly interested in sustainability at their wedding? How important is sustainability to The Fall?

As a society we are becoming more aware of the detrimental impact that we are having on the planet, and we certainly have customers mentioning that they are trying to make their wedding day as low-impact as possible.

It has been my goal from the beginning to approach everything we do at The Fall from both an ethical and environmentally sustainable perspective - from the packaging we use to the designers we work with.

We at Aisle + Vow believe in being as sustainable as possible and love the concept. What inspired you to create the program and why now?

Being a very young business (we just turned 1 in January) I'd wanted to get the business "feet" firmly on the ground - especially when the pandemic hit and we had to ride that out financially - before adding in different services and offerings.

However, one of my brides got in touch and said she was downsizing her wedding and wouldn't be able to have the big destination celebration in Australia as planned. She wanted to come back and pick a more casual dress for her town hall wedding, and asked if I had any idea what she could do with her brand new Lola Varma outfit that would go unworn. At the same time, so many brides have been putting off choosing an outfit as they haven't been sure what/when/where their wedding would be. These realisations presented themselves to me at the same time and I knew I had to work to get (Re)Cycle launched as quickly as possible!

The Fall has a thoughtfully curated contemporary aesthetic. Will you be choosing dresses to keep in line with the brand or offer a wide range?

We will 100% be sticking to our curated, contemporary aesthetic - that is what brides come to us for so we won't deviate outside of that. However, we recommend anyone that can't resell through us to list their dress on Still White!

What are the price ranges for the (Re)Cycle dresses? Typically a 30-50% discount on RRP, and approximately £500 - £2,000.

Tell us about the experience a bride can expect at your boutique?

Relaxed, informal, no pressure, and fun!

Has COVID affected the approach to your work? Ahh - how hasn't it affected it! We had to completely pivot and swapped immediately to figuring out how to logistically offer a Home Try On service. My time in the showroom is now spent sending gowns in and out, and video calls for consultations and fitting.

Professionally or personally, what inspires you?

I'm very inspired by ceramic artists at the moment - I love G. Binsky, Re Jin Lee and Carla Cascales Alimbau.

What can we expect from The Fall in the near future? We're excited to be expanding on The Fall family designers - stay tuned for announcements :)
